Love-love this piece. Thanks for sharing all that -- you cut amazing swath through the interior landscape and touch on at least a dozen really significant things and then sail on. Well done! Loved it. I could not let such a wonderful set of disclosures to go uncommented upon😊 So here we go…
“Read bitches gotta eat, I hope?” Heck yeah, “read bitches” gotta eat! we’re fucking starving all the time. But… occasionally there must be a Negroni.
“...oddly polished in its unconventionality.”
Yes, that’s a good way to put it; I think FWIW of your writing as a form of experimental improv jazz combined with outlaw country and punk rock. (Is there a venn diagram for that?) However…IF pressed, I would summarize your style as “hydra-headed.” You write multitudes. You are multitudes. How could it not be? And that’s about as Shakespearian a compliment as I can think of – but if I have a (2nd) Negroni I shall, depend upon it, Basil, I shall proffer additional summary statements!
…voracious appetite for reading (mostly the really good stuff)…
Ok. THIS is a piece – what do you read and why? Please add this to your “gotta-write” list.
“Perfectionasm” oh – gosh I never had one of those. I must be doing it wrong? But I’m guessing your condition would stem from classical flute performance quality standards? …yet somehow you know when to plug in the old Dreadnaught through a vintage Marshal amp and and stomp the shit out of the Hendrix Wah-Wah pedal and …. ‘scuse me while I kiss the sky!”
“Lately, I’ve been trying to imagine my way out of this nomadic…”
+
“I’ve spent a lifetime investing my sweat equity…”
These two paragraph hit really home for me – crikey-- that’s full magnum ’57 Châteauneuf-du-Pape throw-down waiting in the wings. Too much for here. We can talk.
Kids, coffee, fresh air, trail and a gentle partner? LIFE IS GOOD, my friend. And yes, you deserve it all.
“I want you to fall right down the rabbit hole and land gently on a pile of sticks and leaves. “
I have my crash helmet on. Bring it on, Sister!
Yeah Seattle in the rain…I have this too – but more for a place in Ft. Bragg I go in the winter every year – and for London (in the rain) for me and I could not be happier ambling about in the rain, the rain, with no purpose…. my happy place
Finally, thanks for sharing about the ex. I just want to let that sit and not trifle your patience with any commentary, but your bravery is, well, I won't go on.
See you at The Pink Door! – I’ll be at the bar nursing a Negroni…

I live for your analyses. They are a genre unto themselves. Thank you so much for reading all of this stuff.
