Chris Andrews: I still remember this NYT article from 2016:

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/04/nyregion/donald-trump-taxes-debt.html

The story of the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City alone is worth reading for very dark humor about financial corruption.

Years ago, I thought Donald Trump was funny, until he assaulted Mexicans and Asians, and he used Joseph-Goebbels-like labels, "The immigrants poison our blood."

So, long ago, Trump's true colors showed.

What astounds me, just astounds me, as a jurist, is that a very gifted jurist with a fine mind, namely, Chief Justice John Roberts, has come to the Crossroads and sold his soul to the Devil.

How on earth could someone of the stature, learning and gifts of CJ John Roberts so deeply betray our Country.

As one who loves The Federalist, I absolutely believe that, in his most centralistic moments, Alexander Hamilton would have decried and prevented the brutality and arbitrary cruelty of this Administration.

I believe that Alexander Hamilton, the one who argued most ardently for Central Government, would be appalled at the plenary powers in crime afforded by CJ John Roberts.

I think that Alexander Hamilton fully anticipated arbitrary power and did his utmost to prevent it.

And this is from the most Centrist of our Founding Fathers.

I think all should re-read the wondrous Federalist Papers.

Now, the only party that represents the values of The Federalist is the Democratic Party.

We need a responsible, middle-right, conservative Party.

We need a responsible, Wall-Street Republican Party back.

The loss of one of two major parties to tyranny is an unacceptable, precipitous danger to our Republic.

I would not fight with a traditional, Conservative Republican who shared hatred of tyranny and who shared core values of The Federalist.

I would work with her, learn from her, compromise with her, dialogue in civility with her, so we both could resolve needs in society consistent with scarce resources.

This is the traditional dialogue of Bob Doyle and Patrick Moynihan.

This dialogue with common values is where safety in our American Republic lies.

We cannot have this while one major Party is of the Aryan-ideology:

"Immigrants poison our blood."

"Haitian immigrants steal your pets and eat the kitties and puppies in blood voodoo rituals."*

__________________________________________

* In the Middle Ages, the trope was, "Jews steal your children and eat the little boys and girls in blood rituals." This trope fanned the flames of racial hatred and ignited deadly pogroms.

We can be proud to be Americans. In the tradition of The Federalist Papers. In the tradition of the Transcendentalists -- Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson. In the tradition of the Abolitionists and heroes: Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass. In the tradition of W.E.B. Du Bois. In the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King and our dearly missed John Lewis.

John Lewis practiced already as a little boy. Mother Nature created in this dear boy the goodness of the future man. The little four, five-year-old boy preached to the farm chickens. There is a picture of the little tyke preaching to the hens. What a huggable, innocent, happy little boy.

The boy who grew into the man, crossing the bridge for Justice in Selma, and being battered in the head by ignorant, brutal police.

The young man who spoke at the March on Washington so memorably.

The Congressman who wants us, even today, to "create good trouble."

What a dear, dear Man, John Lewis, and how dearly we miss him. May God rest the good soul of John Lewis in well-earned peace. We love you!

Roberts is the worst kind of evil. Good-looking, well-spoken, charismatic, and in a position to do immeasurable harm, which he is doing. He's such a prick. Enjoy this bullshit from him: https://youtu.be/HgEbe9vbHfY?si=I6BhPeb41Q28giBe.

Chris Andrews: As a jurist, I do not adhere to "originalism," but was impressed with CJ John Roberts at his appointment.

Of course, in the GWB Administration, the appointment would be an "Originalist."

But, having read CJ John Roberts' background, I had realistic hopes he could develop a jurisprudence, albeit "Conservative," of the reasoning quality of Justices Felix Frankfurter and Benjamin Cardozo.

The fall from potential greatness is really tragic and D-A-M-N-I-N-G, especially in the cause of absolute and arbitrary powers in the Presidency.

Rarely has a public servant so bitterly disappointed.

I wonder two things about Roberts as my impressions are similar to yours: whether there is a cognitive component and whether he is isolated from all but colleagues Alito and Thomas (etc.) and thus missing balance in input.

Tyranny, loss of basic human rights and ill-conceived immigration policies - fucking not interested in any regime that espouses what Trump is putting forth.

Trump is as sick an individual as there is and if you imagine his vision as one you can get behind, then you are just like him. Not a friend of mine and certainly not someone whose opinion I’m interested in considering.

May you bask in the glory of what is to come. You will surely enjoy it.

Agreed on some of what you espouse and I am certainly disgusted by Democrats right now.

However, many of your comments are fact-free and time will make clear which things you are choosing to believe are true and best for our country. The results, even with Trump manipulating statistics are becoming clear.

You write well, but much of what you’re saying smacks of homophobia, racism and ignorance, in particular your comments on immigrants. Perhaps actually look up demographics on crime. Nothing backs up GOP claims of rampant crime caused by these people. Just the opposite. And consider the billions of dollars immigrants contribute to our GNP through their purchases. Did you know the majority of these people pay taxes? lol. Yep, our infrastructure is paid by immigrants as well as US citizens. Employers take taxes out of immigrant paychecks exactly as they do for everyone else.

To be clear: I’m not a fan of Dems at this moment in our history. The old guard needs to cede to more progressive and younger politicians who are willing to take on the corporations and oligarchs who have their hands in everything. And they need to take a more forceful stand against the tyrannical regime that is emerging out of the MAGA movement and the horrible human rights atrocities occurring worldwide.

All of this seems clear as day to me and has fuck all to do with sports. The GOP is fucked. We are heading into a Nazi-like regime.

So hard to reply when you've made so many assumptions, namely that I am on board with Democratic policies. I am disgusted by the state of the Democratic Party. However, EVERYTHING about the GOP is beyond the pale. They are a hateful, hypocritical bunch. Ignorant, uncaring, self-righteous. They pretend to be advocating for hardworking, middle class Americans, but nothing could be further from the truth. There is nothing they do or say that I can get behind. ZERO.

Yes - corruption is everywhere, and on both sides. But the degree of it with the GOP, the MAGA movement, and the Christian right — well, if you can't see the problem, then you are the problem. It could not be clearer.

IF you imagine that the GOP is pro-women, pro-children or pro-blue collar, then you surely are watching GOP propaganda. Try something more factual:

Ah... yes, a huge portion of our tax base comes from immigrants - every kind (legal, illegal, documented, undocumented).

Your ignorance on trans people based on your blog is absolutely appalling. Shame on you. Try reading and listening to something other than FOX and JK Rowling. Consider what top medical institutions and psychiatrists, people who are well-versed on the subject of sexuality, have to say. Sexuality is complex.
