I'm a Jewish atheist--at least I think I'm still a Jewish Atheist--and I've strongly favored women's reproductive rights ever since I came to understand what they are. But I approve greatly of Pope Leo!
I do feel a bit odd about my predilection for certain popes. The first was John Paul I, who served for 33 days in 1978, before his very untimely passing. I don't remember what it was about him that I liked him so much, but I do remember becoming quite saddened by his untimely departure.
I also liked Pope Francis--no mystery there.
And now I like Leo XIV at least as much as the first two. Maybe I should become Catholic? That doesn't sound like me at all, and I don't know what to make of it. But I may yet write to Pope Leo XIV, telling him that dogs have souls, and should be allowed in Church, and that that would probably greatly boost Sunday attendance, and that probably at least 95% of those I've mentioned this to agree with me!
I probably will do that! It's amazing how many people I've spoken with about dogs having souls have agreed with me. I think out of probably 15-20 people right now, only one gave a negative response, while the rest were quite positive. And, yes, I agree that Leo likely would be open to the idea. I have a very good feeling about Leo XIV!
Pope Francis was a stooge of the Franquista regime of Argentina during the Dirty War and beforehand, the Franquista Argentine regime being a client state of Western imperialism. Pope John Paul was condemned for being as virulent as Trump, since Pope John Paul I was an anti-Communist chickenhawk who was a misogynistic slut-shamer: however, John Paul I planned to wipe out corruption which Popes John Paul II and Benedict tried to do and which Pope Francis made strides in doing, Pope Francis cracking down on Opus Dei. It will take nearly 6 years by my reckoning for Pope Leo to crack down on corruption such as child rape. Traditional Christians HATE sports stars for being culturally and sexually liberal i.e. doing steroids, doing drugs, being drunkards, cheating on their wives, exploiting prostitute sex slaves, swearing, being decadent spenders, and not giving to charity. Thus Pope Leo violates the teachings of St. Paul.
Wonderful! BAD, BAD, LEO XIV! You are great lyricist. Yeah Trump counts his fans in the 10s of millions but who picks a fight with a guy with 1.4 billion fans? --somebody obsessed with popularity? What could go wrong? Just watching France 24 news tonight and evidently the Italians are not very happy with the recent performance(s) out of Orange Jesus.
Ever since C.E. 1950 the Catholic Church has been divided between reformist and traditionalist Catholics: half of Catholics opposed Pope Francis and oppose Pope Leo.
For sure! I’m not a Vatican fan myself for philosophical/historical reasons but the Pope makes a good, common sense call for dialogue and peace — WHO in their right mind would pick a fight with that? What’s left now in DT’s headspace to piss on? Motherhood? Applepie?
Right on and we all have to work with the cards we have - and he's playing with the card he has. Seems to be a bit of breath of fresh air at this point in his tenure
I agree. I also particularly liked Francis for similar reasons, and Pope John Paul I--who served for 33 days the summer of 1978, probably for similar reasons, although I don't remember exactly what, now. What I do remember was that I liked him, and I felt badly about his untimely passing.
Love this Pope and the late Pope Francis! But mostly- love the new lyrics to Bad, Bad Leroy Brown 🎶
My biggest fan. Love you, girl.

I do think you should pen that letter to Leo about dogs. He seems a considering sort of guy.

Interesting - where would you place our current supreme court jesters? more left / more right?
Republican Catholics are traditionalists.
Thank you for all the detailed, intriguing commentary.
Undoubtedly even more Americans are unhappy about what Orange Jesus is up to, if only because Americans so greatly outnumber Italians.

With you 💯 on not being a fan of the Vatican, HOWEVER, I am a fan of this Pope, who is using his sway with 1.4 billion peepholes to do something good.

Some of God's spokespeople have a place in this turbulent world today. Hallelujah!!! Glad that you are passing this along.
Amen and ase.
"Ase?"
Ase is the Yourba/African equivalent of amen.
Good to know.
