Lorinda rocks, as always! Lorinda and Arlene have Janelle's number and I hope Arlene made Arthur pay dearly for that f-up when they got back to the hotel. Janelle is every annoying person I've ever known all rolled into one. Lorinda was wise to drop her off, get back in the car and say adios.

My daughter and i are having to deal with some drama currently of one of our favorite alcoholics. Neither one of us tolerates the bs. Take what you like and leave the rest behind. Years of al-anon meetings helped me enormously and probably helped my daughter as well.

Thank you again for sharing your work! ❤️

No, Lorinda is her own woman. She's a mix of many of my fav people. There might be a bit of you in there, and Lucille Ball, a pinch of Molly Ivins. Lorinda is able to say some of the things the rest of us can't get away with.

OK, yes, she's me.

Hi Chris.

Are you and Lorinda the same person. I assume she is a nom de plume.

Another great piece! Just a thought: but I think we need some kind of new official Taxonomy of Unpleasant People. Or people strictly TBA (to be avoided), AAC (at all cost). We already have the cultural moniker of the "Karen" (may I speak to your manager), and now I suggest we draft the name "Janelle" as a certain type of clueless, annoying, narcissistic user. I furthermore vote that YOU are the right person to do this! I recall you did a taxonomy of older men that was not only insightful but hysterical.

Love this. DM any other ideas related to this. Right up my alley. It’s unlit.

As the young folks say, my flabber is gasted. This was an amazing, if horrifyingly amusing, recount of what I'm sure was an embarrassing, to say the least, experience. I was tempted to read this much like I do horror films, through my fingers. Well done!

As an adult child of two alcoholic parents, I chose to skim through this article instead of reading it carefully. The excerpts reminded me of pain-filled episodes as a child. I'm glad to be an adult who now employs the phrase, "No!"

My pain-filled episodes from parents were as a child of two mentally-ill parents.
