So glad you and the Justice survived the treacherous descent down the slopes of Napa with your humor intact and your poetic juices flowing. Though I’d venture to say your erotica might be a tick more memorable than your poetry. Just a tick. Happy Tuesday.
Hope the burns healed and you’re back enjoying life and trails again.
You could explain the “bounce factor” to John. You know, when women are hiking and things shift around a bit as opposed to women hiking who can carry protein bars and snacks on their breasts without them falling off…
I don't worry about tits. It's the air in Derry that gets me going.
And, shoot, it's 1 minute after midnight, or I'd read the poetry again and listen to the music video again, but the combination was a nice way to end the day.
Oh, and the allusion to poison oak reminded me of the day in '73, I think, when on a herpetology field trip in Pinnacles, where we did not see any rattlers, despite having been promised (and I still have never seen a live rattlesnake in the wild--just a dead one on the towpath about 3/4 mile outside of Georgetown), I got mixed up in some poison oak, and ended up taking a 15 minute cold shower, which worked! (I did not get poison oak.)
If it weren't so late I'd have reread the poetry and listened a second time to the music video. Thank you. Very nice. I wish I could turn the poem and the music video on in my head after I get into bed.
That's sweet of you, Chris. (The poison oak is so distant in the past--my last, and probably only major case was in 1971, I think. The herpetology field trip was soon enough after that I had plenty of motivation for the long cold shower!)
Chris Andrews: This column is a keeper with you all avoiding the poison ivy, tumbling down the bushy hill, two Episcopalians meeting and, once they recovered (from the Fall?! From meeting each other?!) they marry -- which may or may not be "happily ever after", and 100-years song, and THIS:
"That morning both outcomes equally lay
Step through poison oak or slide down a gravelly cliff

Ha ha ha!!! Part 3 should be up tonight. Stay tuned.
And whaaaat is that about my poetry? Oh man.

😂 air in derry. Working on a recorded bedtime story for you. Will not include poison oak.

At my age, it's about all I can do. :)

"That morning both outcomes equally lay
Step through poison oak or slide down a gravelly cliff
Sadly, I kept the first for another day
Avoiding the itch, I slipped down the hill
And doubted if I should ever come back
"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two trails diverged in a thicket, and I—
I took an untested detour
And now have a full-body friction burn"
Seems we've enjoyed the same things over the years. Thanks
